Adult Bible Classes

 

Sunday Morning Adult Classes

Sunday 9:30 a.m.

December-February 2012

 

 

Auditorium           

Jason Speed and Glenn Daily will lead this class in a study of “Ephesians & Philippians.”  This class will study Paul’s epistles to these two churches. Paul tells us how to find true riches that can change your life. In Philippians he tells them the true source of joy.

 

Faithbuilders FH 1&2

Dave Phillips is the teacher and will lead them in a study of “Church History.”  This class shifts between topical and textual studies.  They will continue to look at the history of the church and will consider Restoration History. Dave will teach many practical lessons from our past.

 

Fellowship Hall FH 3&4

This class is taught by Larry Scroggs.  He will lead this class in a study of “Promises to Keep.”  This book by Prentice Meador clearly addresses issues confronting Americans in the work place, home, and church relative to personal integrity, honesty, and commitment.

 

Living Sacrifices Room 120

Alan McClurg will lead this class in a study of “The Fruit of the Spirit.”  Alan will consider the meaning of each fruit listed by Paul in Galatians 5.  He will encourage each person to develop these fruit as part of their daily Christian walk.

  

Hope of Glory Room 123

Ron Roberson will lead this class in a study of “Romans.”  They will consider why things aren’t right in the world and how God can use us to help make things right.  Also they will consider where the power comes from to be right with God on a daily basis.

 

Caring Class Room 124

Keith Munn will lead this class in a study of “The Parables of Christ.”  Keith will consider mainly the parables in Luke.  He will challenge the class with the teachings of Christ.  Each parable has a lesson for today.   

 

Cornerstone Room 128

Byron Howell is the teacher for this discussion class. They will study “Studies in Acts (Part 1).” They will focus on key events in the initial chapters of The Acts of the Apostles, including the birth of the New Testament church, the work of the Holy Spirit, the early conversions, and other events surrounding the exciting, early years of the Lord's growing church family.

 

Living Proof Room 129

Smith Hopkins & Lynn Patterson will lead this discussion class in a study of “Paul from Prison: Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, & Philemon.” They will examine Paul’s theme in each letter and how these messages applies to Christians today as we face daily trials.  They  will challenge the class to follow Paul’s example.

  

Good News  Room 130

Eddie Lewis will lead this class in a study of “Joshua-God’s Faithfulness.”    They will consider several important lessons from the OT book of Joshua. They will consider Joshua’s example as a spiritual leader. God’s faithfulness is seen in every chapter as Israel enters into the Promised Land.  Joshua inspires us to trust God as we journey toward our Promised Land.

 

Wednesday Adult Classes

7:00 p.m.

 

Auditorium “Joy to the World”

Ron Roberson will lead this class in a study of God’s message of joy to the world.  We have a commission to take that message of joy to every person. He will also consider how to develop joy in your life.

 

FH 3&4 “Turbulence Ahead”    (Parenting Class)

Joey Markham will lead this class for parents of all ages in a study of several issues facing our children.  He will consider parenting skills, the media, drugs, pornography, and several other important issues.

 

Room 120 “Bible Words We Should Know”

Eddie Lewis will lead this class in a study of several fundamental words that are key to the Christian life.  They will look at words like: Atonement, Redemption, Justification, Sanctification, and Righteousness.  Also, they will ask some important questions about these words and other important Bible teachings.

 

Room 123 “Walking Through the New Testament”

Glenn Daily will lead this class in a survey of the New Testament.  They will consider the main lessons in each of the New Testament books.

 

Room 124 “That the World May Know” (Video study)

Billy Edwards will lead this class.  Ray Vander Laan will present “Faith Lessons” that ignite your faith and inspire your faithfulness. Each lesson transports you to the lands of the Old and New Testaments, where you will explore the fascinating geographical and cultural backdrop for scriptural events.

 

Room 128 “Contemporary Issues”

Dave Phillips will lead this class in a study of several current issues facing the church.  Sometimes on Sunday night Dave considers what he calls “Hot Potato” issues.  This class will do the same thing.

 

Room 130 “Sing the Old Songs”      (Singing class)

Tim Vann will lead this class as they sing the old songs and learn some new ones.
